Hi! I’m Sara Belsky.

I recently graduated from Butler University with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Creative Media and Entertainment.

For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with movies. They can be common ground, an escape, educational, inspirational, or simply entertainment. They have the ability to do so much and mean so much to so many different people.

Side Note

Like most families in the early 2000s, my family would go to the grocery store every week. At the end of these trips, we would always stop by the RedBox machine. For me, at 8 years old, this was the highlight of my week. We would choose a movie to take home and save it for our Friday movie nights—a cherished Belsky family tradition accompanied by pizza.

One week, I, being 8 years old, made a mistake and got grounded. As a punishment, I wasn’t allowed to watch the movie we had rented that week. At that age, this was devastating for me. Looking back, I’m not proud of my response, but it illustrates my love of movies.

In the middle of the night, on Thursday, I snuck downstairs, grabbed the movie, and took it up to my room. The next day, when it was movie time, the DVD was nowhere to be found. Eventually, my parents asked me where the movie was. My response was, “If I can’t watch the movie, then no one can watch the movie.”

Back to the Important Stuff

Movies can mean so much to different people, and what’s fascinating is that it often boils down to countless small decisions—like where to position the camera or what color shirt a character wears. The power of these choices and their impact on a movie’s overall tone, value, and message is remarkable. It’s for these reasons that I confidently say I love movies.

I’ve also grown up in a music-centric household. My uncle is in the band Moe., and when I was younger, we attended all of their concerts. Music was constantly playing at home, and since starting school, I’ve kept this tradition alive with music playing 24/7. In college, I started attending concerts regularly. Concerts are something I always look forward to—they’re incredibly special. I was explaining this to my brother (who isn’t a concert person) over the summer. People will travel hundreds of miles, give up everything, just to do something so simple—hang out and listen to live music. Music has the power to unite people from all walks of life. With all this in mind, I easily classify myself as a music lover.

Beyond my love for media and movies, I am passionate about travel. I have visited numerous places including London, Nice, Paris, Rome, Venice, Florence, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic. Additionally, I am an avid runner and recently completed my first race in London.
